Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear?

Long pants and closed-toed shoes are recommended, but not required.

Do we have to wear helmets?

Yes, and they are provided to you.

Do we get to go on the beach?

Yes! In fact, Oahu Horseback Rides is the only trail ride on Oahu that goes on the beach!

Can I take pictures?

Guides can take pictures for you if you bring a small camera at no extra charge.

Where will we be riding?

Along the beach and up and down Oahu’s famous North Shore.

What kind of horses will we be riding?

Polo horses; thoroughbred, quarterhorse, or a mix.

How long is the ride?

The ride is between 60-90 minutes and varies based on group sizes and how individual horses move.

What if I have medical problems (heart issues, back problems, etc.)?

You must be physically able to ride and stay on a horse safely (in extreme cases it is staff decision). Let us know if you have any issues.

How old do my kids have to be to ride?

Due to our insurance not covering any keiki under 8, the minimum age requirement is 8 years old!

Do you provide transportation?

No, we are not currently offering transportation but hope to do so in the near future!

I am staying in town / Waikiki / Honolulu and will be driving. When should I leave?

Traffic depending, it would be safe to leave an hour to an hour and a half before check-in time (30 minutes prior to activity start time).

Do you have directions?

Click “here” for directions to our facility!

What is your cancellation policy?

30 minutes prior to the ride start time is the HARD arrival check in. We have a 48-hour cancellation policy, meaning that if you cancel within 48 hours of your tour start time, there will be no refunds issued. Rainouts/cancellations due to weather are at company discretion. We ride rain or shine.

Can we trot or canter during the ride?

Our trail is a guided walking trail along the beach. The sand in Hawaii is too deep for the horses to go faster than a walk. Safety is our top priority for both our guests and horses, so we do not permit trotting or cantering.

I took my friend who had never rode a horse and it was a great experience for her and she loved it. We did the sunset ride and the sunset was spectacular! I was glad she had such a good gentle horse and the staff was very nice and knowledgeable.

Horses are so well trained and perfect for beginners! They take any fear that you may have and squash it with their tame manner and adorable faces. We did the sunset ride and it was absolutely magnificent. Everyone had such a fun time, 100% recommend.

We had a great time on our ride. Guides were knowledgeable and thorough. The horses and facilities were very well kept. It’s apparent they really take care of their animals which was nice to see. The views were amazing. Would definitely do it again!

This was such a dream for my little girl and me and Cheyenne turned it into something truly magical. Thank you for capturing the beautiful memories by taking so many wonderful photos of us. You really are so sweet and knowledgeable about the horses and this stunning island. Mahalo Cheyenne.
